LaVonn worked for many years and retired from the Lincoln Veteran Affairs Medical Center in 1997. LaVonn previously worked for the Shawnee Mission School District in Shawnee, Kansas. LaVonn and Gary R. Greene were married on May 31, 1992 in Lincoln. She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, WSI, WACA, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary and the NRA. She loved square dancing and enjoyed collecting early American and Native American memorabilia.
LaVonn is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Julie Schumacher, Lincoln; grandchildren, Alexander Schumacher, Carson City, Nevada and Amanda (spouse Travis) Stemen, Lincoln; son, Devon Schumacher, Lincoln; sister, Jonece Yakus, Omaha; nephew and wife, Brent and Amber Schulz, Omaha; great-nephew, Tyler Schulz, Omaha; aunts, uncle, beloved Debus and Snyder cousins, and dear friends.
LaVonn was preceded in death by her husband Gary R. Greene; parents; brother-in-law, Len Yakus, and nephew Randall Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Memorial, 6800 S. 14th in Lincoln, NE on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
