Virgil was born in Malcolm, Nebraska on August 2, 1927. His parents were Clamor and Helena (Beckmann) Heidtbrink.
He was a lifelong resident of Malcolm. Graduated at Malcolm High School in 1945. Virgil worked at Woodmen Accident and Life, the University of Nebraska, Nordon Laboratories, and Russell Stovers as well as maintaining his farm. Virgil was one of the original members of the Malcolm Volunteer Fire Department and long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Virgil was survived by his daughter, Ruth Ann and Duane Burd, Pleasant Dale, Nebraska; his son Gary Lee and Kathy Heidtbrink, Malcolm, Nebraska; Grandchildren, Teresa (Wilson) and George Weaver, Bennington, Nebraska, Aaron and Jamie Burd, Severance, Colorado, Andrew Burd, Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, Lisa (Heidtbrink) and Christopher Jones, Lincoln, Nebraska and Anthony and Robin Heidtbrink, Lincoln, Nebraska. Eleven Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife of 44 years; Virginia Heidtbrink, parents Clamor and Helena (Beckmann) Heidtbrink, brothers and sister; Victor and Betty Heidtbrink, Clarence and Irene Heidtbrink, Jack and Gladys (Heidtbrink) Isaacson, Lester and Cleora Heidtbrink, all of Malcolm, Nebraska.
