Lynn J Schlater

Lynn Jeanette Williams Nesmith Schlater died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 after a brief illness. Lynn was born November 29, 1941, in Lincoln to Clifford and Evelyn Williams. She attended Lincoln Public Schools and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music. She was a phenomenal pianist and musician. She taught at the Beth Miller School of Piano, and was an instructor at Rocky Ridge Music Center for many years. Lynn married James Nesmith on June 9, 1963 in Lincoln. He passed away on June 7, 1971. Jim and Lynn had three children - Carey, James and Matthew. Lynn married Mike Schlater on June 5, 1988, and gained 8 more children. She was presently an accompanist at Nebraska Wesleyan Music Department. Lynn is survived by her husband, Mike Schlater, Lincoln; her children: Carey Nesmith, Lincoln; Jim Nesmith (Becky), Lincoln; Matt Nesmith (Jo), Vermillion, SD; Tom Schlater (Rose), Virginia Beach, VA; Marie Schlater, Lincoln; Teresa Myers (Larry) Holdrege; Carmen Skare (Joe), Lincoln; Barbara Aringdale (Todd), Loveland, CO; Mike Schlater (Tristan McCoy), Fr. Collins, CO; Gina Schlater (Ryan Neal), Lincoln; Joni VanBeber (Mike), Carr, CO; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lynn was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim, her parents and her brother Scott Williams. Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12th, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials to Nebraska Chapter of the American Cancer Society or Capital Humane Society.
