Maryan was born on January 16, 1935 to her parents, Louis and Lucille Burianek, in their farmhouse south of Pleasant Dale. Growing up, Maryan helped her parents on the farm as well as helping to take care of her younger siblings, especially helping with her twin sisters, Jean and Joan. She graduated from Pleasant Dale high school in 1953. In May, 1953, she married Glenn Allen in Lincoln, Nebraska. After they were married, Glenn left for the service, so Maryan lived at home with her parents. When Glenn came home they moved to Lincoln in 1955.
Over the years, Maryan was employed by Russell Stover candy, American Stores for over 21 years, Ovaltine Snack Co. for 14 years. She retired from Ovaltine Snack in 1997. Maryan had a hard time staying home, so she decided to rejoin the workforce to work as a temp employee for several years. Her final job was at Immigration Naturalization Services from August 2001 to 2013. In 2013 at the age of 78, she formally retired.
Maryan enjoyed bowling with friends, trying new places to eat, going to American Stores luncheons and birthday clubs, but mostly spending time with her children and grandchildren. Maryan loved visiting Lori and her family in Geneva. She loved going to small towns around Geneva to try a new restaurant. However, we all know that her favorite place to eat was Ticos. She always ordered the chili rellenos. Maryan loved going to Crete with Louis, Gladys, Joan and Jim to visit family. She loved spending the day with her siblings and visiting family in Crete. Last, but not least, Maryan so very much loved spending time with her best friend of 68 years. Betty and Maryan did everything together, grocery shopping, visiting friends, going to each other's appointments and going to American Stores luncheons and attending the Betty’s Club. In July 2022, Maryan moved to Sumner Place, where she enjoyed her final days.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son, Randy Louis; parents, Louis and Lucille Burianek; brother-in-law, Roger Rudolph; and nephew, Scott Helter.
Survived by her children, Janice, Steve, Kevin, Lori and husband Sam; grandchildren, Amie, Ashlee, Sydney, Kelly, Alyssa, Kevin Jr. and wife Tonya, Travis and wife Cassie, Katie and fiancé Mitch, Austin and wife Charlotte, Christa and husband Benjamin, Carson, Macy and fiancé Dakota; great-grandchildren, Jaeden, Jordan, Trent, Angellina, Averie, Kiran, Landry, Clara, Mila, Luka and Anniston; great-great grandchildren, Brylee; brother, Louis and wife Gladys Burianek; sister, Joan and husband Jim Helter; sister, Jean Rudolph of Wilmington, NC; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life open house for Maryan will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512. A family memorial service will occur Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
