Owen Lee Christensen was born on June 20, 1950, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska. He was one of three children born to LeRoy and Doris (Gray) Christensen. Owen was baptized in 1950 and later confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Superior.
On January 30, 1970, Owen married Kathleen Dorn of Plymouth, Nebraska, at Peace Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Together they built a life in Superior and later in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they raised their three children; Jennie, Angie and Chris.
Owen spent many years working alongside his father at Christensen and Son International Harvester and Appliance in Superior. After moving to Lincoln, he continued working in appliance and automotive businesses including Don Macek Auto, Christensen's TV and Appliances, Berner's Furniture and Appliances and Schaefer's TV and Appliances. In retirement, Owen stayed active by delivering parts for Advanced Auto Parts.
Owen loved cheering on the Nebraska Huskers and treasured family traditions like rummy nights and Sunday dinners at his home. Football Sundays were never complete without turning up the volume for Carrie Underwood during Sunday Night Football. He also enjoyed trips to the casino with his nephew, Bill, his son, Chris and close friends, as well as annual football game reunions with his lifelong buddies.
Above all else, Owen cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved making them laugh, whether it was taking silly 'pickle pictures' or holding his flannel pants up high for their amusement. One of his favorite traditions was the race to be the first to shout, 'Go Big Red, Hey!' into the phone with his children and grandchildren on Husker game days. His children remember all of his sayings; 'Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!' ' I'm on a roll, baby!' 'That's the life in the big city.' 'We're back, baby!' 'Hard labor.' 'If it ain't fun, why do it?' 'If you don't ask, you don't receive,' 'Got the game on?' and the latest one, 'Okey dickey!'
Owen passed peacefully while listening to his favorite Golden Oldies with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents; LeRoy and Doris Christensen, his brother, Maurice Christensen, his brother-in-law, Russell Dorn and his grandson, Cole Christensen.
