

Philip Martin Wittig, son of Herman and Margaret (Rosfeld) Wittig was born on March 18, 1934, in Rushville, NE. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rushville, NE on April 15, 1934, and Confirmed there by Pastor E. Rummel on September 14, 1947.
His elementary education from grades 1 through 5, was in a one-room country school and grades 6 through 8 in a two-room country school. He graduated from Gordon High School and then attended and graduated from Dana College in Blair, NE. After serving in the US Navy, he spent some time helping his father on their ranch before returning to Lincoln for further education at the University of Nebraska. He worked for Miller & Moore Accounting prior to his employment at ISCO, Inc. where he served as the CFO and on the company’s Board of Directors', retiring after being there for 34 years. Phil served on the Alumni Council and Board of Regents at Dana College. He became a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church in 1958, where he led a men’s Bible study and served on several other committees. Phil and Karan were married at Sheridan Lutheran Church on September 2, 1973.
Phil is survived by his wife Karan; stepson and daughter-in-law Jerry and Mary Judson; sisters-in-law Dorothy Wittig, Elaine Endorf, Gweneth Walls and Jodie Hohensee; nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parent-in-law; brother Edward Wittig; sister Irene Bernhardt; Sister-in-law Lucille Wittig; niece Donell Bernhardt; and brothers-in-law Bobby Bernhardt, Dean Endorf, Roger Walls and Eugene Hohensee.
Visitation will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Service will be at Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Rd., on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11am. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
