

Robert (Bob) Rudolph Gerdts, 67, died on February 26, 2015. Born September 11, 1947 in Clarinda, Iowa to Rudolph and Kleona Gerdts; and baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Yorktown, Iowa. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1965 and from Iowa Western Community College in, 1968. After college Bob joined the United States Air Force serving 1968-1972, stationed in Biloxi, MS and Duluth, MN and was honorably discharged as a Sargeant E4. After the military he returned to Yorktown, Iowa where he was a volunteer for the fire department and worked as a mechanic at Drennen Repair. In 1977, Bob moved to Lincoln where he worked at Cornhusker International for the past 38 years. On November 2, 1968, Bob married Karen Lynn (Behrhorst). They were blessed with two children, Bradley Allan and Craig Eugene. Bob enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, going to Husker baseball games and working in the garage (he could fix anything). He especially enjoyed spending time with his 4 grandchildren and going to all of their activities. He is survived by his wife, Karen Gerdts; son, Bradley Gerdts, wife Stacey and grandchildren Jake and Abbi; son, Craig Gerdts, wife Kimberly and grandchildren Madilyn and Macey; mother, Kleona Gerdts; brother, Jay Gerdts; sister LaDonna Biggs. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Gerdts; brother, Roger Gerdts; mother-in-law, Alice Behrhorst and brother-in-law, Michael Behrhorst. Memorial Service will be Monday March 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home (6800 S. 14th Street). Inurnment will take place at another date.
