

He worked his entire career for the Nebraska Department of Roads, spanning 45 years until his retirement. Bob was most proud of his 61-year marriage to his wife, Lila. Bob was known for his love of bird-watching, whistling, and breakfast dates with family and friends at Penelope's Lil' Cafe. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his children, Becky (Bob) Sabata and Cory (Catherine) Springer; grandchildren, Matthew (Abbie) Sabata, Father Seth Sabata, Ethan (Victoria) Sabata, Jocelyn (fiancé, Houston Braukman), and Jaclyn Springer; step-grandchildren, Owen West, James, Nathan, and Lucas Rohr; great-grandchildren, Palmer, Decker, and Oliver Sabata; sister-in-law, Faye Joan Springer; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila; parents; granddaughter, Ellie Sabata; siblings, Samuel, David, Doris, Raymond, Betty, and Golden; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. Robert will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials designated to Special Olympics Nebraska.
