After the 100 hour war with Honduras in 1969, several Salvadorans fled their home country and ended up in the United States. Rosa was one of the fortunate ones to arrive here by plane, landing in Southern California for a new beginning. The first part of her life in the U.S. began in the city of Los Angeles accompanied by the siblings Salvador, Yolanda and Alfredo. Roots were beginning to sprout and grow with the birth of her only child, Brenda. A transition occurred in the 90’s when she found herself in the heart of the country, Lincoln Nebraska, where she worked hard to purchase a house, learn to drive and earn her United States citizenship. Although this was the location where her life came to a close, it also became the place where new life began with the birth of her two grandchildren, Kāla and Quade, something that would never have happened without her brave step into an entirely new country.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Michelle (Anderson) Persons, and her grandchildren Kāla Myrissa Persons and Collin Quade Persons.
