He was born on April 29, 1954 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Rev. Roy & Dolores (Schneider) Beckmann.
He graduated from North Bend High School. He entered the U.S Navy.
Roy married Jolene Walls on Oct. 16, 1984 in Alexandria, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed by one daughter Brittney. He was parts manager for Kirk Motors and later retired from Silverhawk Aviation.

Jim Beckmann of Phoenix, AZ, sister-in-law Marie & (Francis) Rauner of Hebron, NE nieces & nephews & father-in-law Jack Walls of Alexandria, NE.
Preceded in death by his parents, &Mother-in-law Jencina.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, and one hour prior to church service.
Service: Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church 12th & H Street in Lincoln, NE.
Interment: Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria, Nebraska at 2:00 pm on Thursday,
