Steven J. Mertens

Steve Mertens, 56, of Lincoln, NE passed away June 11, 2015

He was born in Lincoln, NE to Edwin and Margaret Mertens. Steve graduated from

Lincoln Southeast High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in

Engineering from Doane College. Steve was employed by Simonds International as a

Territory Sales Manager where he received many sales awards.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Steve loved fishing, hunting, flying

his plane, riding his Harley, and spending time with his three dogs and exotic bird.

Preceded in death by his father Edwin Mertens.

Survived by his mother Margaret Mertens of Lincoln, NE; siblings Bill (Bonnie) Mertens

of Roca, NE; Laurie (Eric) Whipple of Lincoln, NE; Kathy (Gene) True of Syracuse, NE;

Pat (Cathy) Mertens of Hastings, NE; Mary Mertens of Oakland, CA; Many nieces,

nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE

68512, Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3 – 7 PM. Rosary to be held at 7 PM.

Funeral Service will be Monday, June 15, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic

Church, 4500 Duxhall Drive, Lincoln, NE 68516.

Memorials received will be donated to a charitable organization in Steve’s name, selected

by family.
