Terry was born April 19, 1934 to Vernes and Marie Krull. He grew up near Centerville, NE where he and his sister, LaVaugn, helped with the day-to-day chores on the family farm. He attended Centerville Elementary and then Central Rural High School and was a member of the 4H Club, serving as Secretary, from 1942-1951. He graduated in the upper half of his class in 1952, receiving a Citizenship Award in his senior year.
In 1956, he was inducted into the Army, where he served 2 years, learning radio operations and maintenance before being honorably discharged.
Upon leaving the army he was employed in a variety of professions before attending the Radio Engineering Institute, from 1962-1964, to become an Electronic Technician. After completing his certification at REI, he worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, Navigational Aids Division, from 1964-1969, during which time he met Betty. On May 3, 1969 they were married.
Terry was an avid fan of motorcycles - racing cross country in his 20s, then later touring on Harleys with Betty and some of their friends.
From 1969-1971 he worked for TV Transmissions Inc as a technician. Then from 1971 until he retired, he worked for Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph (LT&T) as a toll terminal man, where he maintained the toll equipment. In the early 70’s he and Betty expanded their family to include two wonderful boys, Jay and Brian.
Terry greatly valued education, whether self-taught or in a classroom. He often said that regardless of the things that came and went in one’s life, knowledge was something that nobody could take away from you. He pursued knowledge like most people pursue wealth. He worked for it, going to continuing education classes and certifications from his time in the military all the way up through his employment at LT&T.
For most of his life, Terry was very active in public service, with the Wilber Police Department as a Reserve Officer, the Southwest Rural Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and the Nebraskaland Communications Emergency Team as a member for many years, then later, as the Asst. Coordinator and then Coordinator. He continued to use his love of learning and of electronics and radio in his public service. In 1976, he earned his Emergency Medical Technician - Ambulance (EMT) certification.
In 1978, he moved his family back to the farm he grew up on, building their own home on the homestead, where his mother still lived. He and Betty and the kids took care of the farm and his mother until her passing.
Terry touched a great many lives in ways both large and small, most in ways he probably never even realized. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vernes, mother, Marie “Mamie”, and sister, LaVaugn. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Betty Krull; two sons: Jay Krull and Brian (Patricia) Krull; 4 grandchildren: Caleb Schlosser, Keelin Schlosser, Kody Krull, Kevin Schlosser; 2 great-grandchildren: Kolson Schlosser Scholl and Hazel Schlosser Weyer; nephew, Arthur Reddish III; and many other family, friends, and former colleagues.
