Timothy Henry Iliff, Sr., age 77, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on August 28, 1948, in Culver City, California.
Tim graduated from Pacific Palisades High School in California and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business at San Diego State University. He served in the United States Navy, both on Active Duty and the Reserves. On May 25, 1973, Tim married Lynn Rumsey in San Diego, California. He was a Liquor Manager for Vons Grocery for 28 years.
Important events in his life included marrying Lynn, having children, his college graduation, and his time in the Navy. He had a passion for music from the 60s and 70s, especially enjoying the sounds of Jimmy Buffet. He loved living in San Diego and being near the beach.
Tim loved surfing, he taught many friends and family and passed on the love of the sport. He enjoyed camping, dirt biking, and being outdoors, feeling closest to God on the ocean. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and was known for being loving, funny, and warm.
Tim was so proud as a father, stepfather, and grandfather. He loved Lynn, his children, and all of his grandchildren deeply, and anything they did made him beam with pride. He worked hard to give his family a good life, and that love was so clear to everyone around him. Those who knew him can still hear his jolly laugh, the way he would chuckle at something a loved one said or did. He made everyone feel welcome with his warm smile and the love he gave so naturally.
Tim is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, John and Cindy Shrum, Carter and Pam Shrum, Chris and Anita Shrum, Andrea (Iliff) and Richard Thomas, and Tim Iliff, Jr.; and his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Braastad Iliff and Yvonne June Bigley and by his sister, Christina (Iliff) Haycock.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Surfrider Foundation or the Navy/Marine Corp Relief Society.
A private family memorial service will be held.
