Vada Marie Sutter

Vada Marie Sutter, age 84, of Lincoln, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, September 14, 2020. Vada was born January 23, 1936, to Lena and Leo Stauffer. Vada was married for 39 years to Daniel Dee Sutter. She continued to share her love with Dean Sell for another 14 years until her death. Vada Sutter cared about people – her family, her friends and her church. Vada had a gift for hospitality. She enjoyed welcoming people into her home. Whether it was family gatherings, playmates or friends dropping in unexpectedly, everyone knew Vada would be baking cookies, pies or her famous roll cake on Saturday mornings. July meant sweet corn in the Sutter house. Friends and family would stop by to eat fresh sweet corn on the cob and take home quart bags of Vada’s special corn for the freezer. She enjoyed visiting with people and making them happy. Vada always brought a smile to your face as she handed out samples at Hy-Vee or Walmart. Maybe it was because she was interested in others by always listening to them. You could count on Vada to be a cheering fan in the stands – whether it was her children or grandchildren performing or competing. And then it was the Huskers – volleyball and football especially. She liked to be out in her neighborhood, walking around the lake, spending time outside. Vada’s home was always impeccable and inviting. Vada worked for over 20 years at Ameritas. She worked hard and balanced being a working mom, long before it was something written about in magazines. She never made it look hard because both places were important to her because she cared about the people in both places. Vada’s smile would light up the room and her infectious laugh had everyone laughing with her. Vada was a sweet, loving woman. We are sure as Vada always welcomed her family and friends, God opened His loving arms and said "Welcome Home". Vada is preceded in death by husband Daniel D. Sutter; sister, Maxine Bouton; son-in-law, James Wright. Vada is survived by her children, Rosalie Wright, Lanson (Carol) Sutter, Kimberly (Douglas) Rath, Dannie (Shannon) Sutter; brother, Dwayne (Jeanine) Stauffer; grandchildren, Jared (Tina) Wright, Sarah (James) Brown, Nathan Sutter, Andrew (Liz) Sutter, Thomas (Ashley) Rath, Makenzie (Karl) Rath-Giuseffi, Austin Rath, Kramer Rath, Danielle Sutter, Schuyler Sutter; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Callahan, Harper, Everett and Mila; her loving partner, Dean Sell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
