Adelaide Fava was born in Petone, Calabria, Italy, on March 16, 1938. She married the love of her life, Ieso Marcello Fava, on January 15, 1958. She first arrived in the United States with her parents in 1958 and later returned to Italy three years afterward.
During the next five years in Italy, she welcomed her first child, Gregoria. She returned to the United States with her husband and daughter, settling in the Bronx, NY. In 1970, she welcomed her second child, Nino. Adelaide worked for several years as a dressmaker before discovering her true passion for working with and advocating for children as a school aide with the New York City Board of Education.
Upon retirement, Adelaide and her husband relocated to Garwood, New Jersey. To her surprise and delight, their new home was situated directly across the street from Saint Anne's Church. Over the years, she developed a strong bond with the church and found comfort in its presence. She cherished spending time with her family, maintaining a beautiful garden, and devoting herself to her Catholic faith. As a member of Saint Anne's Church, she made it her mission to spread peace, love, and kindness to all.
Adelaide spent her final months living with her son Nino and daughter-in-law Diana in Cranford, NJ. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 5th, to be reunited with her beloved husband and the Lord.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ieso Fava, and is survived by her children, Nino and his wife Diana Fava (Melchionna), and her daughter Gregoria Fava. She is the loving grandmother of Mia and Antonio Anzalone. She is the cherished sister of Lina Zimmerman, as well as her sister-in-law Patricia Lamanna, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
