Born on May 11, 1947, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, Antonietta moved to Switzerland shortly after her marriage. In 1977, she then immigrated to the United States with her family, settling in Elizabeth, New Jersey, before later relocating to Edison, where she spent the rest of her life.
Antonietta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Saverio Santagata, and her loving parents Agostino and Elvira DiPietro.
She is survived by her children, Mario, Agostino, and Antonella; her daughter-in-law, Bina; her son-in-law, Frank; her grandchildren, Antonia, Marco, Gaetano, and Francesca; her brother, Giovanni DiPietro, and his wife, Alfreda.
Antonietta worked for many years as a skilled seamstress. Outside of work, she was also the unofficial tailor of the family—hemming pants, patching jackets, and fixing zippers, whether you asked or not.
After establishing a home with her husband, Saverio, she welcomed her parents, who lived with them for the rest of their days.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Antonietta will be remembered for her deep commitment to family, her silent strength, and her generous heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family will have a donation box at the funeral home for those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Antonietta Santagata. As a devoted supporter of Santa Maria dei Manganelli in Guardia Lombardi, Avellino, Italy, all donations will be directed to the church she held close to her heart.
