Barbara Ann Moore, a loving mother, dedicated worker, and gentle soul, passed away on December 3rd, 2025, her 72nd birthday, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 3rd, 1953, Barbara lived a life full of curiosity, creativity, and quiet strength, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Kean College in 1975, a reflection of her lifelong interest in the natural world.
Early in her career, she was a high school teacher before working at Sandy Hook with the Marine Science Consortium. She found great joy in teaching children about marine life and the environment. She later helped run the park itself—manning the toll booth, directing traffic, and ensuring that the rules were followed with patience and good humor.
In more recent years, Barbara worked as a cafeteria worker in several schools throughout Union County. Though she often shook her head at the bureaucracy that came with the job, she continued for the sake of the children she served. She especially loved working in a school for children with learning disabilities. She loved the way they smiled at her when they got their food from her. She said that those moments with those kids made the job worth it.
Barbara’s early passions were drawing and photography—creative outlets through which she captured the world as she saw it, with detail and heart. Birds became the focus of much of her art; she loved to study their shapes, feathers, and flight, bringing them to life on the page with a gentle hand and a keen eye.
She kept that passion going as she had kids, encouraging them in their creative endeavors. She encouraged reading, drawing, building blocks and many other things. She also used her skills to decorate and plan elaborate parties.
As she grew older, she found comfort in quiet routines: reading on the porch in her rocking chair, feeling the summer breeze, or picking up something simple like Domino’s or Burger King before settling in for a movie on the porch as the sun dipped low. Science fiction and fantasy films were her favorites—stories of distant worlds and magic that matched the imagination she carried with her always.
She is survived by her children, Timothy Moore and Nicole Ann Moore, who will forever carry her love and lessons forward and
brother, Paul and his wife Seery.
She was preceded in death by Paul Taylor Syers Jr. and Eleanor Patricia Kisiel, dear members of her family whom she always remembered with love.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her life during a viewing on Sunday, December 7th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain bright in the lives of those she touched, the kindness she showed, and the quiet joys she shared.
Barbara Ann Moore leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and gentle strength—one that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
