

A visitation for Francisco V. Gonzalez, 88, of Edison, NJ and Boca Raton, FL will be held from 4-8PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home in Linden, NJ on Sunday, July 10, 2022. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will take place at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home on Monday, July 11 from 9AM until the time of service at 11AM. He will be entombed at St. Olivet Cemetery in Newark, NJ following the service. Francisco passed away Sunday, July 3 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ.
Francisco Valentin Gonzalez was born April 8, 1934 in Manzanillo, Cuba the son of Ana (Labrada) and Francisco Gonzalez. He was raised in Bayamo and spent time on the family farms nearby where he developed a love of animals. Francisco was also instrumental in the family owned Esso gas station in town and worked diligently from a young age. He graduated from high school and attended 2 years of college.
He married Emma Vega in 1958 in Bayamo, Cuba. The couple immigrated to the United States in 1959, starting a family in Elizabeth, NJ. The family moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1963 where he worked as an owner/operator truck driver hauling construction materials for a few years. They eventually came back to, and settled in Elizabeth, NJ where he was a founding member of the Cuban Club and a teamster with Local 863; working for both Pantry Pride and ShopRite during his career before retiring in 1996. Francisco loved the United States and became a US citizen; He took his civic duties seriously and regularly voted in elections.
Francisco was an avid Yankees fan, he loved baseball and coached Little League when his sons were young. He loved fishing and spending time at his home in Boca Raton, FL with family and friends. He loved poetry and was a talented wordsmith himself. Francisco loved people above all else; he never knew a stranger. He was a friend to all; He loved to laugh and enjoyed a good chat with anyone and everyone about their life and culture.
Survivors include his wife Emma, of Edison, NJ; two sons, George Gonzalez of Colonia, NJ and Frank Gonzalez and partner Angela Dykshorn of Queens, NY; and two grandchildren, George Gonzalez and Alexis Gonzalez of Colonia, NJ.
