

Born on March 20, 1965, in New York, NY, he was one of two twin boys, born to Luis and Mary Montan֘ez. His friend and twin brother, Gerardo Montan֘ez, predeceased him two years earlier. Javier had formerly resided in Brooklyn, NY, where he met his wife of 31 years, Sandra. The two eventually moved to Edison, NJ, where they both resided just before his passing.
Always active in the church, Javier was a devoted member of his parish overseeing the ministry of alter boys at Sacred Heart Chapel. Javier was a constant voice and example to young boys on the importance of service to God.
Javier was a man of many talents and gifts, blessed with a spirit of compassion for others and a wonderful voice that earned him a spot as a member of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Javier joined the choir in their recording of the “Be Glad” album in 2022, even making an appearance on the cover. Javier loved praising the Lord in song and discussing the Bible with his good friend of many years, Jim Martinez. He would often give away Bibles to friends and loved ones. Javier loved spending time with his family and doting on his three grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed the holidays, gathering with family, and enjoying a good laugh. His presence and love for the Lord and his family will be greatly missed.
Surviving, are his wife of 31 years, Sandra, his son Steven Cuenca and wife Veronica, his three grandchildren, Taylor Sanchez and husband Gabriel, Steven Michael Cuenca and Annabella Cuenca. His brother Luis Montan֘ez and wife Annie, his nephews Ricardo Montan֘ez and Joshua Montan֘ez, his nieces Maria Elena Montan֘ez, Rebecca Montan֘ez and Karina Montan֘ez.
A visitation for Javier will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. A committal service will follow at Saint Gertrude's Cemetery , 53 Inman Ave, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07067.
