Jean C. Jeanty, the son of Clesius Jeanty and Themy Sanon, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 30, 1939, in Arcahaie, Haiti, he resided in Linden, New Jersey, since the 1980s. During his career, he dedicated himself to taxi driving and later retired as a machine operator at a paper company in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Despite his demanding work, he cherished his passion for jazz music, particularly from Haitian bands like Tropicana, and also enjoyed swing jazz in the United States, appreciating artists such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marthe Jeanty, and his son, Thoby.
Funeral services will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5th, commencing at 8:30 am. A religious ceremony will follow at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church from 10:00 am, concluding with the committal at Rosedale Cemetery at 11:00 am. Repass will be held at The Westwood at 12:45 pm to 4pm.
