   Although its difficult to properly describe how much I cherished our friendship other than saying I wish there was a rewind button in life. If so we'd be able to duplicate all the good times and hearty laughs. I'm so happy to have known you and glad that we had 1 last day together where you were able to be your old self.

All of my memories from my life in New Jersey include Uncle John. From when I was a kid, he would come over to do laundry, and while he waited for his clothes to dry, he’d read me stories (and he was my favorite reader because he ALWAYS did the characters’ voices). As I got older, he’d come to my softball games and helped my mom coach sometimes. When he got his new car (that blue 280Z), he took me (I was like 10) for a ride that I’ll never forget (we went VERY fast and I was sworn to secrecy about the speed because my mom would have flipped out). 😊  He was a part of the Jammers, the band made up of him, my dad and a few of their friends.  I got to listen to them play in our house from a young age, and I remember how much he truly loved playing his guitar and how much the band inspired me. So, when I grew up and it was time for me to write a song for my wedding, I went straight to him. We practiced for weeks, and we performed it at the reception and we had a blast together.  Looking back now, it was the best part of that wedding (haha). He’s been on vacations with us and he’s visited me in every place I’ve ever lived-Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida. And every time we visited NJ, he was the person we always stayed with (and I always compensated him with a Sal & Carmine’s pizza pie upon arrival). When I asked him to be Kyla’s Godfather, and he didn’t have his baptism records, he took all of the classes and did all of the work so that he could be there for her on her christening day. Throughout my life, we’d talk about real-life things-challenges, fears, death, hope and love.  It was nice to have an uncle who I could talk so openly with about the things that not everyone really wants to dive into. He was always there for me, and I was always there for him. I could probably write a book (which would most likely be a comedy), and fill it with all the memories I have with Uncle John. I feel so incredibly honored to have had such a beautiful person to call my uncle. 

One special memory that I have of Johnny was at Maria's 50th wedding anniversary party.   He was just glowing with happiness that day surrounded by all the family.   My sister loved to force him to say who his favorite cousin was and he would always say "not you" while she proceeded to hug and squeeze him and kiss him all up.  When it was my turn to give him a hello hug and kiss, I whispered in his ear "don't worry, I know it's me and your secret is safe with me" and he just looked at me, sat back in his chair and had this huge belly laugh and turned to his Fiancé and said "these are them, my crazy cousins I was telling you about".   If only I could turn back time and hug him just a little longer.   RIP cuz.  Love you forever and ever!!  Monica XOXO

Just sharing a memory of many years ago. I went to visit John with Jorge and we picked up a bottle of wine and we were drinking the wine and John entertained by playing The Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits on the guitar. It has stayed with me all these years and I always think of John whenever I hear it. A very special memory of a very great person. RIP my friend.
