He was born on December 2, 1959 in Mont-Rouis, Haiti. He had a dynamic personality, full of vivacity and vigor. He was very caring and passionate about life. My uncle was a hardworking man. He was a carpenter by profession during all the years he lived in Haiti.
Joseph immigrated to the United States in 2005 to join his mother and his brothers. He made some wise choices in his lifetime, but the greatest of them was to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Having been saved in this church, Joseph (also called frère Djo by his church family) quickly became involved while developing close ties with the members of his spiritual family.
He joined the men’s ministry and to fill the void left by the passing of the late brother Kiki, he joined the team that maintains and cleans the church buildings. He devoted his time to serving the Lord and his church until his last breath. One of his biggest plans was to celebrate his next birthday in the annex building of this church after the renovation was completed.
One of his favorite songs was “A la gnou Zanmi sé Jézu” (What a friend we have in Jesus). He loved this song because Christ became the best friend he ever had.
Joseph was a great brother, a devoted friend and a reliable partner to his siblings Rechenel Toussaint, Noel Jean Louis, Mirabeau Jean Louis, Emmanuel Toussaint, Losilia Prophete and Richard Prophete. He was a strong, yet tender and kind man. He cared deeply for everyone around him. His great sense of humor and warm personality made him jovial and friendly to all who knew him.
Joseph Prophete also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Estella Toussaint and Dieudina Jean Louis. His nieces and nephews: Wilgainson Toussaint, Stanley Toussaint, Mikerlange Toussaint, Kathleen Toussaint, Shelda Thelisme, Gagnetan Jean Louis, Nueda Jean Louis, Mary Noel Jean Louis, Maranatha Bazil, Evens Jean Louis, Esther Jean Louis, Gamanielle Jean Louis, Roodson Jean Louis, Merannta Jean Louis, Isaiah Jean Louis, Noel Dina Jean Louis, Mahain Jean Louis, Aaliah Jean Louis, Emmanuel Toussaint Jr, David Gabriel Toussaint, Samuel Raphael Toussaint, Johathan Alexander Toussaint, Taina Karen Toussaint, Tania Jean Louis, and Mikerbeau Jean Louis.
As an uncle, he was always there for his nieces and nephews and loved spending quality time with them. They will miss his dancing, jokes and stories of the good old days. He loved being with them, especially his young nieces and nephews who will miss having him around to babysit them and walk them to and from school.
Joseph Prophete also leaves behind his cousins, great cousins and extended family members, Abner Perrote, Moïse Louis, Esperanta Louis Derius, Etuelle Jeudy and her family. Antoine’s family, Louis, Joseph, Delatour and the Kelly family.
Joseph didn’t have any children of his own, however he loved kids and had a great relationship with all his nieces and nephews.
Big brother Joseph Prophete, Uncle Joe, Cousin Joe, Brother Joe to many of us, will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on in all of our hearts forever.
In Christ, Life is eternal, and Love is immortal. Rest in peace until we see you again.
