Liborio Tamburello

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Liborio (Benny) Tamburello, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who legally immigrated to the United States from Ribera, Sicily in 1957. Liborio peacefully departed this life on February 9, 2024, at the age of 86.

Liborio was born in Ribera, Sicily on May 11, 1937, to the late Carmela (Miceli) and Ignazio Tamburello. In pursuit of a better life for himself and his future family, Liborio bravely made the journey to America at the age of 20. He settled in Elizabeth, NJ where he would later become owner/operator of L. Tamburello Trucking.

Liborio was a proud and devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Nellina (Noto), in 1964 and together they raised two children, Maria and Ezio. He was a loving and dedicated father, always providing for his family and instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and integrity. Liborio cherished his role as a Nonno to his five grandchildren. He reveled in having big dinners with the family and sharing stories of his youth in Sicily, teaching them to play cards and instilling in them a love for their heritage. He also loved his Yankees and Giants. He was also very proud to be a member of the Ribera Italian American Club of Elizabeth, NJ. He was a member of the Club since he arrived on these shores.

Liborio leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and unwavering loyalty to his friends. The family hopes that he will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Liborio Tamburello will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his loving wife Nellina, his daughter Maria Seramba, son-in-law Bill, his son Ezio, daughter-in-law Jennie, grandchildren Valentina, her fiancé Alex, Julia, her husband Nick, Angelica, Liborio, his fiancé Lexi, and Charles. He will be lovingly remembered by a host of extended family members in New Jersey, Florida, Canada and Sicily. A funeral service will be held at St Anthony’s Church on 3rd Ave, Elizabeth, NJ at 10am on Feb 13, 2024, where we will come together to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Liborio Tamburello. He will be laid to rest in the peaceful grounds of St Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.

May his legacy live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him. Liborio’s spirit will forever remain a guiding light for those who follow in his footsteps. Rest in peace, Liborio Tamburello. You will never be forgotten.

A visitation for Liborio will be held Monday, February 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM from St. Anthony's RC Church, 853 3rd Ave, Elizabeth, NJ. A funeral will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067.
