

Lurette Felix, age 63, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. Lurette Felix was born on January 26, 1960 in Cabaret, Haiti, where she spent most of her life up until 2009 when she made the difficult decision to leave Haiti and move to the United States in search of a better life for her and her 3 children. She was a loving and dedicated mother, sister and friend, despite the numerous challenges she faced moving and adapting to a new country, her dedication to provide a better life for her children never wavered. She was strong and selfless, she sacrificed her own goals to make sure her children could reach their own.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck in 2013 when Lurette lost her only daughter to lupus after years of battling. A devastating loss that left a hole in Lurette's heart that could never be filled. Despite the loss, she remained strong for her remaining children.
In 2020, Lurette faced another challenge as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the country went into lockdown, her place of employment ended up temporarily closing which led to her losing her health insurance. She struggled to see a doctor, but eventually, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. Lurette underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and surgery and was showing signs of improvement.
However, on March 6, 2023 Lurette peacefully passed away in her son's home, surrounded by her loving sisters and loving son. Despite the difficult circumstances, Lurette's love and strength continued to shine through to the end.
Lurette will be remembered as a kind, loving, and devoted mother and sister who always put her family first. Her unwavering love and strength will be missed by those who knew her. She was a faithful member of her church for many years, her presence will be greatly missed. She was involved in numerous church activities and initiatives, from singing in the church choir to leading prayer groups, and was eager to share her faith with others. Her dedication to God was evident in all that she did, and her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many. Whether it was through a warm smile, a comforting word, or a simple act of service, Lurette made a difference in the lives of those around her.

Her sisters and brother: Aline, Irene, Agathe and Jean-Elix.
Her nieces and nephews: Micheverland, Daphney, Judy, Nathalie, Farah, Rimsky, Ingrid, Mike, Shellie, Seymie, Edherlie, Anne, Laura, Francesca, Danie, and Nephtalie.
Her cousins: Lunch, Maggie, Natacha, Mado, Carline, Evens, Ernso, Victoria, Chrysler, Carl-Henry, Fausta, Emmanuela, Victor (ti-victor), Nordling, Ginette, Viergelie, Lynda, Vorbes, Jean-Silus, Nerline, Etzer, Gaby, Forbes, Elda, Alexis, and Ynsel.

The visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of prayer service at 11:00 AM, Haitian Bethany Baptist Church, 36 S Broad St., Elizabeth, NJ 07202. A committal service for Lurette will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, 350 East Linden Ave., Linden, NJ 07036.
