Mocha D. Davis-Potter was born on November 22, 1970, at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, New Jersey, to Astor Dean Davis and the late Coreen West. She began her education at an elementary school in East Orange before transferring to Irvington High School. Mocha completed her high school education by earning her diploma from Essex County College in November 2000. Prior to this achievement, she worked as a special education teacher's aide in 1997. In 1998, she met her husband, Bennett L. Potter, and they were married in March 2000, shortly after which they started their family. Mocha chose to become a stay-at-home mother during this time. When she re-entered the workforce, she obtained her real estate license in 2006. Additionally, she earned her Nurse's Aide Certificate in April 2012 and pursued further education in Phlebotomy shortly thereafter. In 2015, she became a certified EMT and subsequently obtained her 911 Dispatching Certificate in 2016. By 2018, she discovered her passion for certified personal training.
She is survived by her three children, Amaya S. Potter, Bennett A. Potter, and Kenneth E. Potter, as well as her parents, Astor Dean Davis and Anita Seabron-Davis. Her siblings include Dean T. Davis, Anthony Spearman, Marcus W. Davis, and her sister Charisma Maxwell, along with her brother-in-law Jamarqus Maxwell, in addition to a multitude of family and friends. Mocha was a beacon of hard work and compassion, always knowing when to support those she cherished. Her memory will endure, and her legacy will remain everlasting.
