Ricot Jean-Baptiste passed on August 6, 2023 at his home in Roselle, NJ. He was born on January 12, 1952 in Jacmel, Haiti to Domicia and Pressoir Jean Baptiste. He was the youngest of five children: Andrelita, Elza, Clarita, and Dominique. Ricot immigrated to the US along with other family members in 1970 to a Haitian immigrant community in New Jersey. For the first few years he busied himself going to school and learning English to better position himself for future job opportunities. He would practice and continue learning the language by watching American television, through which he developed a passion for American Football and the New York Giants. During his years of studying, he came across a familiar young woman from his days in Haiti and struck up a romantic relationship. That woman, Leslie Jean Simon, would become his wife in 1975. In that same year, Ricot started attending data processing school and moved into a small apartment in Linden, NJ with his wife. A few years later, they would have two boys Ricot Jr in 1978 and Jayson in 1981. With the growing family, they needed a bigger space and bought a home together in Roselle, New Jersey, where they would then spend the next 30+ years.
Ricot landed his first major job working at First Fidelity Bank as a computer operator and then made the transition to a support operator at EDS where he would work for over 20 years finally retiring in 2010. He was respected and loved by many for his hard work ethic, perseverance, authoritative presence, easy to laugh personality, and adoration of his New York Giants. His life’s mission was to provide for his family and raise two young boys into men. He wanted them to have a better life and made whatever sacrifices necessary in order to achieve it.
Ricot is survived by his siblings Andrelita, Elza, Clarita, and Dominique along with his beloved nieces and nephews. His son Ricot Jr and wife Helena along with their five children Alex, Sabrina, Miles, Isabella, and Riley; son Jayson and wife Sarah along with their three children Zoë, Maya, and Ava.
Ricot is predeceased by his parents and wife.
