Dear mom, because that is what I called you. You were like a mother to me, especially after my own mom passed two years ago. When I fell in love with Raquel, your beloved daughter, you embraced me as a son; you shared a wonderful relationship with my parents and my family; your kindness and love were legendary among them. You could’ve been anything in this world had you been born in another era. You were a gifted poet, a whiz at numbers, a phenomenal cook. In another age you would have been a celebrated writer, a business woman, a restaurateur, an entrepreneur. But you never craved the limelight. Your one desire was always to see your family happy and to know they were well— well fed usually— and safe. You did everything you could to see that happen, even at the expense of your own happiness at times. We owe you more than you could possibly imagine. You deserved so much more than what you got in the end. But now, I know, I believe as sure as the stars in the heavens and the sun in the sky, your reward is greater than anyone could conceive, and your joy beyond words or measure. Watch over us now, dear mom. Guide us as you always have, until we meet again. With love always, your son, Stephen.

Raquel, Frank, and Tony...  My heart goes out to you and the rest of your family.  I share your pain and offer my deepest condolences for the loss of your mom.  It is so hard not to cry when I think of her. Every single memory I have of her is one of laughter and kindness.  I honestly believe my mom, brother, sister, and I would not be where we are had it not been for the support and encouragement she always provided.  My kids also wanted me to convey their sympathies.  They remember her dearly because she always came to their birthday celebrations.   I will always remember how she would sing happy birthday to me on the phone, even as I got older.  I loved your mom, and I love the memories she's left me with.  I will miss tía Pilu very much.  

Aunt Pilu and my mom shared so many things on a daily basis.  Five or more phone calls a day weren't unusual at all, especially the last call at night..., in order to comment on the current soap opera episode and to wish each other a good night...  Outdoor breakfasts in summer and trips to the mall or Marshall's were a real treat for both any time of the year...  But one of the things aunt Pilu truly enjoyed was travelling..., whether it was just a day trip or a journey overseas...  We were blessed to have aunt Pilu in many of our vacation trips..., and one of the countries she loved the most was Portugal..., where she had the opportunity to stay for two months..., back many years ago...

Our prayers and Condolences go out to the Idrovo Family and Pilu Family.  She was  a very loving and caring woman. May she RIP 🙏.  Will be missed but never forgotten 🙏. Always in our hearts 💕.. 

Tía Pilu was always present in every milestone family gathering, and my wedding wasn't the exception.  My husband, my kids and myself will forever miss her dearly...
