Stanley lived a simple life in the city he loved, Elizabeth, for most of his 103 years. He was a proud patriot having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and never missing the opportunity to exercise his right to vote. Stanley was a good-natured man of few words, always had a smile on his face and a story to tell (mostly about his adventures as a young man), never voicing an unkind word about someone. Although he did not have an operatic voice, he was known for belting out “Sto Lat” (one hundred years) at every birthday party he attended. It’s obvious he followed his own advice having exceeded one hundred years. Although he enjoyed Wheel of Fortune, he was not one for watching too much television but rather would listen to his country music for hours.
Besides being a member and the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Polish Legion of America Veterans Post 91, he belonged to several other organizations including St. Hedwig’s and St Adalbert’s Senior Citizens. His involvement in these organizations contributed to him maintaining his faculties to the end of his life. Carpentry was a hobby of his and he built bird houses, signs, snack and picnic tables, benches and even ladders in his basement woodworking shop. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and seine netting “down the Jersey shore.” In his younger days, he owned a boat and enjoyed many fun days on it.
Stanley was the beloved husband, married for 69 years, to the late Mary T. (Gotowicki) Gorski. He was the devoted father of Cynthia Kennedy and her husband Jack, Arlene Knox and her late husband Harold and the cherished grandfather of John M. Kennedy, Alexa Knox Hirschhorn and her husband Matthew. He was also predeceased by his sister Ann Siekierka, and his brother Edward Gorski.
