She was born on March 20, 1935, to Leland G and Ora (Caron) Watson in Mars Hill, ME. She attended Corinna schools, got her GED from Nokomis High School in Newport and earned her LPN Certificate at CMVTI in Auburn, ME.
On December 31, 1963, she married the love of her life, Ronald Chase at Morses Corner Church in Corinna and they went on to live a life that dreams are made of.
Her nursing career included work at local nursing homes and nearly ten years at Pineland Center.
Edna had a zest for life that knew no bounds and pursued it with passion, she loved the outdoors whether it be camping, canoeing, snowmobiling, water and cross-country skiing, hiking or climbing every hill or mountain she had time for including Katahdin, Kineo, Croagh Patrick in Ireland or Diamond Head in Hawaii.
She had an infectious smile that some called angelic and was the heart and soul of a large extended family that included five children, thirteen grandchildren and innumerable great grandchildren.
She was never happier than when she was making multi-tired birthday and wedding cakes for her offspring or hand stitching quilts for each of them.
When her husband’s job took them to live in Europe, she continued her pursuit becoming an active participant in the Wiesbaden Officer and Civilian wife’s club and a USO volunteer. It also allowed her to further her quest for travel, visiting nearly all of the formerly western European countries as well as Israel, Egypt, Turkey and Kuwait.
She was not blatantly religious but did believe in God and rejoiced in the opportunity to celebrate Christmas Mass at the Vatican with Pope John Paul II.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years Ron of Durham, Daughters Bette Stackpole (Larry) of Wellton, AZ, Kathy Lupo of Auburn, Sandra Huntington (George) of Durham and sons Robert Webber (Cheryl) of Mechanic Falls and Scott Chase (Dede) of Durham and a sister Bernice Quirk of Belfast.
She was predeceased by her sister Darlene Frati and her brothers Leland Jr. and Garfield Watson.
