

Augusta – Joseph A. St. Michel Jr., 84, of Durham passed away at the Maine Veterans Home on April 22. Born in Marlboro, MA the son of Joseph and Ellen Collins St. Michel he attended local schools and graduated in 1947. Joseph was married to Helena Quarton and together they started their family. He spent two years in the US Army before becoming a computer programmer. Joe loved to work on model trains and was an active member of The Great Falls Model Railroad Club. He served as a town selectman for Durham and was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was a member of the American Legion Post 202 in Topsham and Lincoln E. Clements AMVETS Post 13 in Durham which he served as Post Commander and State Commander. Joe is survived by his 5 children, 1 son Bill St. Michel and his wife Kathy of Durham; 4 daughters Charlene Tobey and her husband Carroll of Lisbon, Betty St. Michel and her husband Dan Melton of Mississippi, Peggy Therrien and her husband Scot of Lisbon, Ginny Johnson and her husband Dave of West Virginia; 3 step children Ann Obar of FL, Ben Spillman of FL, and Lynn Spillman of NH; 17 grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two wives Helena Quarton St. Michel and Janet Spillman St. Michel.
