Karen Wertman, 56, of Sabattus, died at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 after battling against Glioblastoma Multiforme for more than 3 years. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1979, where she was an All-Star softball player. While a senior in high school, she started work at C&G Auto Parts in Lisbon Falls, and became manager of the store that later became Steego, CarQuest and now, Advance. In her 37 years at this job, she worked hard to provide excellent customer service and felt that the employees and customers were more like friends and family. She missed the daily interactions with her 'buddies' when she was forced to stop work due to illness.
Her interests were many, including: photography, gardening, crafting, rock hounding, the Red Sox, Patriots, and the ocean, where she spent countless hours searching for heart stones, shells and trying to capture the perfect photograph of a crashing wave. She loved to travel and was especially proud of having visited all 50 of the US states. In her travels, she enjoyed checking out the 'road less travelled' and collecting shot glasses and pins from every place she visited.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold J. Wertman, brother Chris Wertman, and her beloved grandmother, Rose Powers. She is survived by her wife, Betsy Glencross, daughter, Katie Norris and mother, Joan (Powers) Wertman, all of Sabattus; brother Tom (Terri) Wertman of Collegeville, PA; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wertman of Candor, NY; nephews Jake and Ben Wertman and niece, Kelsey Wertman.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 11AM to 1 PM, at Crosman's Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Lisbon Falls, Maine followed by a memorial service at 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Karen's charity of choice;
