

He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on July 19, 1924 the son of the late George A. and Lucy (Ford) Parks. He was educated in Plymouth, Massachusetts and then went to serve his country with the U.S. Navy in the Navy Pacific Theater during WWII as a Chief Petty Officer.
Richard then went to the University of Massachusetts and majored in Biology. Upon graduation, he moved to Maine and was a Biologist for the State Fish and Game where he met Ann Haskell and married her for 72 years until her passing in September of 2023.
Together they had two children Barbara and Thomas. They moved around for his job then settling in Gardiner until building a house in Harpswell upon the time of his retirement.
The last few years they had resided at Hillhouse Assisted Living Center of West Bath.
He is survived by one son Thomas Parks and his wife Wendy of Sabattus; and two grandchildren Forrest Parks and his wife Ann of Butte, Montana and Matthew Parks and his wife Aimee of Bowdoin, Maine.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Parks.
