Lewiston - Vivien G. Karkos, age 83 and longtime resident of Park St. in Lisbon, died Sunday afternoon February 26th at d'Youville Pavilion with family at her side. She was born in Lisbon, August 30, 1928, one of five children born to the late Albert G. and Blanche E. (Dube) Therrien. Vivien received her education at St. Bernadette School in Lisbon and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On August 31, 1946 she married Mr. Frank Karkos and together settled in Lisbon to raise their family. He predeceased her on February 23, 1996.
Mrs. Karkos worked fifty years in the Lisbon community textile industry as a weaver, spending the majority of those years at J.P. Stevens, Worumbo Mill, and later at Miller Industries, Farnsworth Mill in Lisbon Center until her retirement on June 13, 1995.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Coombs-Mountfort Post 158 in Lisbon.
Among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with her family and vacationing and spending time each year for 53 years at Small Point.
She was a loving, devoted and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She leaves two daughters Phyllis Gorey and husband Wayne of Lisbon Falls and
Linda Champagne and husband Ray of Topsham; three grandchildren Jessica Gorey Mayol and husband Ben, Jonathan Higgins and wife Kathy and Katrina Champagne; a great-granddaughter Piper Higgins; her sister Pat Gravel of Lisbon Falls and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Karkos, two sisters Rosa Dube and Irene Jacques and a brother Elie Therrien.

Funeral Notice:
Karkos, Vivien G. 2/26/12. Visitation at the funeral home Fri. 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity church Sat. 9 AM. Committal and interment will take place in the Spring in the family lot at St. Anne's Cemetery. Having been a cancer survivor, in lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in her memory to American Cancer Society, New England Division, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
