Joan Bales

Joan A. Bales, 96, of Elkhorn, WI; formerly of Downers Grove, died at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center of Elkhorn on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Nic and Anna (Sieben) Kuefler.

Joan was a long-time member, 90 years in fact, of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, knitting, and embroidering. She had a genuine interest in caring for others that were in need, whether it was preparing a meal for someone, or simply keeping them company.

Joan is survived by her children, Judith Perle of Naperville, Patricia (Richard) Miller of Elkhorn, WI, and Michael (Rebekah) Bales of Patagonia, AZ; grandchildren, Jonathon, Matthew, Meghan, Stacey, Michael, and Sara; and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steven Bales; and her brother, James Kuefler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division St., Lisle. Interment will take place immediately following Mass at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 911 North Ave., Naperville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Mission, PO Box 938, Hwy 82 East, Greenwood, MS 38930.
