I just stumbled on this entry and am heartbroken. I worked with Roger at GE Railcar in the 90's when I was just a kid.  He was the kindest, most patient manager I've ever had the pleasure of working with, before or since, and was a wonderful mentor. He was a guest at my wedding 20 years ago, and I still look forward to re-opening his gift every year when we get out our Christmas decor!  He will always be in my heart and memory: my condolences to his family.

My Condolences to the family. My name is Allan Jacobson, I was a friend of Roger from 1965 though the mid 70's. A great guy with a quick smile. In a pinch Roger was the one you could always rely on.

I just heard of Roger's passing. The last time we emailed he was considering retiring from GE and we were talking about post railroad career activities. I will miss you old buddy and will miss our birthday zingers and teasing each other about the state of our old car activities. RIP Roger,you have been a good friend, see you on the other side someday.

I'm Tom Mordock.  And this is my wife, Barbara. I've  known Roger since mid-1970's.  It started with our Railroad careers.  But we soon became the best of friends, he went to our wedding in 1994 in Portland, OR, we spent New Years Eve together with he and Rosetta in Galena, IL for many years, last year he and Rosetta spent a week with us in Montana.

Top 10 things I Learned From Roger

10. Trust
Roger easily earned the trust of all with his honesty, integrity, and sincerity.

9. Always be a patient and active listener, show understanding of others thoughts AND Always think before you speak

8.  Always think TWICE before you give advice 

7.  Never make enemies

6.  Always be happy, smile, and find a way to enjoy today, with humor

5.  Just wait and the problem will go away

4.  Never clean up today what you can clean up tomorrow, have you ever seen his home or work office?

3.  Never ever get a sun burn  

2.  You never own enough cars

1. Always be Fashionable, wear black socks with your shorts and sandals, AND of course a plaid flannel long sleeve shirt.

I have known Roger since 1975 when I began working at FMC in Portland, OR. He was my mentor and very dear friend. The world has lost a kind and caring person.  Rest in peace my friend; we will all miss you.

I worked with Roger at GE Railcar. He always had a smile on his face. I would run into sometime in the neighborhood driving one of his cars. My sympathies to his family

Even though I had not seen or spoken to Roger in ages I was hoping he'd be at our 50th high school class reunion, as he was a favorite classmate.  I too was shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden death.  To all his family, he will always be in your hearts .  To Roger, rest in peace old friend.

Roger was my best friend. I first meet Roger in 1972 while working at FMC in Portland, Oregon. From that moment on we were good friends. He could brighten your day as well as your life. He always had the utmost respect and caring for every person that came into his life. I wish that he may he rest in peace in heaven with all the cars he loved so  much. I will miss him very much.

Roger was the most kind and wonderful man I have ever known. RIP you were loved and will be missed.

My condolences go out to Rosetta, Roger's sisters and all those who knew and loved him.  He was a very gentle and caring man whom I learned to know through his sister Ruth.  She was very close to Roger for being a significant part of her life.  I loved his sense of humor and he was a fun person to be around.  He had not only a great love for cars and trains but also for his family.  May they cherish all the great memories they have of him.  RIP Roger....bet God is wanting to try out one of your special cars.

I had the privilege of working with Roger at FMC in the 70's.  Thru his kindness and patience, he taught me much about the railcars he loved so much.  He also shared his sense of humor and terrific smile with everyone in our department, making it the best job I ever had.  I shall always remember him with great fondness.  Please accept my deepest condolences, and may you find comfort and solace in knowing how many lives he touched.

Roger was a kind and gentle man. I will remember him with great fondness to our family.

My sympathies to his sisters. Roger was my brother in law for many years; married to LeAnne. He was a wonderful human being and I always enjoyed his sense of humor.  May he rest in peace.

My thoughts are with you, Rosetta.  I know that Roger was very lucky to have had you in his life.  I also send all of my sympathies to the rest of Roger's family.  I know that Roger meant a lot to all of you and you to him.  May you find peace in your memories and support in each other.

We are very happy to have known Roger as a fellow worker and a friend with common love of cars and trains. We will cherish memories of good times had over many years.    Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosetta and his family....

My condolences to Roger's family and friends.  I am saddened and shocked by his sudden passing at such a young age.  My heart is lifted, however, to know that he spent his last day doing what he loved...attending a car show!  I went to Vacaville High School with Roger and I have fond memories of our friendship.  The world has lost a kind and loving soul!

Having known and respected Roger in the tank car business for more than 25 years, and having worked more closely with him at GE for the past two years, I am really saddened by his sudden loss. We have lost a wonderful human being, and a generous teacher. I know that colleagues from all over the industry will miss him greatly.
