

Thomas M. Stanton, Sr., 95, of Oak Lawn, peacefully entered eternal life on Dec 23, 2025 with his devoted wife, Helen, of 71 years by his side. Thomas was a loving husband, son, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation services are on 12/29 from 3 to 8 pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Lisle. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on 12/30 at 11:00am at St Joan of Arc in Lisle, IL.

Thomas Martin Timothy Stanton beloved husband to Helen T. (nee Hogan) for 71 years. Loving father of: Helen T. (Scott) McCullough, Thomas M. (Deborah) Stanton, Jr., Daniel J. (Tamara) Stanton, Sr., Mariann (Jeffry) Kwiat, Donald Walter, Walter (Lyn) Stanton, Eileen (Jack) Maggiore, Margaret (Jeffrey) Remlinger, Stephen (Darci) Stanton, Sr. Supportive and encouraging Papa to 29 and Great-Papa to 35. Survived by his sister Colette (the late William) Athans, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his two children Stephen David and Madonna Marie; parents John Joseph (Mary Katherine) Stanton; his siblings and their spouses Nora/Marie (James) Walsh, Katherine/Sr. Mary Samuel RSM, Joseph (Marita), Edward, Genevieve/Ronnie (Frank) Ryan, John (Mary Lou), William (LaVerne), Helen, Rita and Walter and in-laws Daniel (Margaret) Hogan, Leo (Irene) Hogan, Shirley Hasberger (Glenn), Phyllis Karas (John), Daniel (Donna) Hogan.
Thomas was born on March 2, 1930 in Chicago. His early education at Sacred Heart school was the foundation for a lifelong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Evident by his assistance at daily Mass while serving in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Goosebay, Labrador. On returning from service he met the love of his life. They met the night before their scheduled blind date at the Holiday dance hall. They were engaged six months later and married on June 26, 1954. They both wanted a large family.
Tom was a long-time resident of Oak Lawn and a member of St. Gerald’s parish, where he was an active member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Holy Name Society, a Knight of Columbus Fourth Degree, and involved in Liturgical Ministries as Lector and Extra-ordinary Minister of the Eucharist. As his faith life grew, he professed vows with the Third order of St Francis. Mass and the Rosary were a part of his daily life while also serving the poor and needy through the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Thomas Stanton was a professional Life Insurance broker for over 50 years with Columbus Life Insurance Company and achieved Certified Life Underwriter, MDRT, and past president of South Cook County Life Underwriters. He loved helping other people to secure futures for their loved ones.
Thomas will be remembered for helping others when in need, laughing at a good joke, singing to his beautiful wife, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, watching Notre Dame, and his pro-life values. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to St Vincent DePaul Society.
