It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Brown Jr., who left us on February 9, 2025, at the age of 49. He was born on July 27, 1975, in Little Rock, AR to Charles Brown Sr. and Myra Brown. He is preceded death by grandparents, George Jackson Sr. and Mildred Bradley; sister, Sherida Chisley; and brother, Joshua Chisley.
Charles was always the biggest presence in any room, filling it with laughter and joy. A skilled mechanic, he owned and operated Charlie’s Mechanic Shop, where he worked on a wide variety of vehicles—from diesel trucks to standard and mid-sized cars. His dedication to his craft and his customers was unmatched, and he took great pride in his work.
He had a heart as big as his kindness, and always put others before himself, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. His selflessness was not just a trait but a way of life, always offering a helping hand, a warm smile, or a reassuring word when it was needed most. Whether with family, friends, or even strangers, Charles’ generosity knew no bounds. His legacy of love and compassion will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Miriam Rena Brown, and his grandchildren, Karston Owney, Khe’lyse Owney, Dha’kharii Sykes, and Dha’marii Sykes. He is also survived by his mother, Myra (Darrell) Holt; his father, Charles Brown Sr.; sisters, Tonya Allen, Cornella (David) Matthews, Shamika Vurger, Stephanie Vurger, and Angela Brown; brothers, Gregory (Adama) Chisley, Joseph Chisley, and Charleston Brown; brother-in-law, Avery Allen; godbrother, Abe Taylor; godfather, Chuck Taylor and family; special friends, Quincy Gardner and Ericka Jordan; as well as many other beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be remembered fondly.
A visitation in honor of Charles’ life will be held on Friday, February 14th, from 3 PM to 6 PM at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, located at 5800 W 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204. In honoring his memory, there will not be an order of services, allowing friends and family to gather freely and share in their love for him.
Charles Brown Jr. will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
