David Wayne Blackmon was born on November 20, 1952, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late David Blackmon and Erma Lee Rembert Craig. He departed this life on November 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family and friends at the age of 73.
He attended College Station Elementary School and Sweet Home High School. He was in the second graduating class at Wilbur D. Mills School in 1971.
David accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church. He later united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend C. Dennis Edwards I.
David served as Servant Leader of the SJMBC Security Team for over 30 years, and was part of the Kingdom Men's Ministry, and the Together In Christ Ministry.
On June 27, 1992, he united in marriage to the love of his life Girthal Weaver.
David worked for over twenty years with the Pulaski County Department of Road and Bridge and Solid Waste where he was appointed Director. David was also an Entrepreneur and was the owner of Dave's Automotives in Little Rock, Arkansas for over twenty years.
He is preceded in death by his parents David Blackmon and Elma Lee Rembert; five children, David Blackmon Jr., Derrick of Little Rock, Angie Weaver, Jermonie Weaver and Craig Weaver; two siblings, Larry Blackmon and Margaret Victorian.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of thirty-three years, Girthal Blackmon, one daughter Sonya Blackmon Pierce (Maurice); one son Marques Blackmon (Daisha); five sisters, Wilma Walker of Fayetteville, AR, Sharon Jeffries (Henry) of Milledgeville, GA, Deborah Blackmon of College Station, AR, Phyllis Muhammad of Little Rock, AR, Ann Hinton, Little Rock, AR; seven brothers, Melvin Craig (Alberta), Fairfield, CA, Byron Blackmon (Pam), Little Rock, AR, Carl Craig, of Reno, NV, Donald Craig (Wanda), of Sacramento, CA, Harvey Barton (Yvette) of Little Rock, AR, David Blackmon of Little Rock, AR and Tyler Blackmon (Tanice) of Little Rock, AR, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
