A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, Faith served as an elder and remained active in church life for many years. She taught kindergarten and grade school for more than 20 years, shaping generations of young students. Creative and engaged, she was active in the local art community and loved to travel extensively; if she had one regret, it was not being able to return to France for another art retreat. Faith also had a lifelong passion for Bridge, which she played multiple days each week. She deeply valued her friendships and was known for her love of entertaining, graciously hosting gatherings in her beautifully decorated home. She found great joy in gardening and creating welcoming spaces for others.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Welshans (d. 1984) and Ray Hogan (d. 2021). Faith was also preceded in death by her sister, Hope Elder Spragins, and her brother, Vilas Hendrick Elder Jr. Left to mourn her passing are Bradley and Laura Welshans, Elizabeth Welshans, Wesley Welshans, Brett Thomas, Robert Hogan, Adam Hogan and many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on January 28 from 4-7p at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th St, Little Rock, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Myasthenia Graves Foundation of America, in honor of Faith’s life and values. https://myasthenia.org
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers, hospice, medical staff and friends for their compassion and support.
