Hallie Spragins Simmins died at home with family and friends surrounding her on October 29th. The daughter of Joel Hannah Spragins and Hallie Vaughn, she was born and raised in Little Rock. She was married to her beloved husband of 59 years, the late Charles Kirk Simmins. She is survived by her daughters Hallie Rookey, (Craig), and Helen McMillin, (Rob), four grandchildren, Renee Routier, Shannon (Christopher) Webb, Stephen (Heather) Rookey, and Deborah (Brianna Jett) Rookey and special “child” Mariko Cobb, (Steve).
A graduate of Austin College, she worked as an English teacher and pre-school music teacher, then moved to tourism and retired from public relations working for the City of Little Rock. After her family, her great loves were music, nature, and her dog, Daisy. She was active in Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, where she served as elder and as moderator of Presbyterian Women, of which she was a life member. She loved her neighbors and friends and will be deeply missed by many.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 P.M. Saturday, November 16, at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hallie’s memory to Second Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
