James L. Pettus, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on September 22, 1930, to Lilburn and Mildred Pettus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Gee, and brother-in-law, Wallace Gee.
During his working years, James was the owner of the ‘Pettus Drive-In’ and various other business ventures. He enjoyed golf and cherished spending time with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Ellowene Pettus, his children, Barbara Gump (Bruce), Wayne Pettus (Mary), Lynn Pettus (Amanda), and Renee Pierce (Mackie). His six grandchildren will also deeply miss him — Jacob Gump, Wendy Cathey (Brandt), Zachary Gump (Abra), Lindsay Pierce, Eric Pettus (Arielle), and Joshua Pettus (Audra) — as well as his eleven great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his kindness and devotion to his loved ones.
