Lota Lourice Wright Guthrie of Little Rock died Thursday, March 18, 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday. Born May 24, 1921, to the late Joe P. Wright and Vera Madge Wright Bates, Mrs. Guthrie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ewing Ray Guthrie, after 72 years of marriage in 2014; and Betty Gardner, the "daughter she never had." The early years of her marriage were spent working at the munitions factory to support the war effort, and caring for her parents and in-laws while her husband was in the service and later away, attending physical therapy school. She worked as an office manager in the medical field for many years, and she and Mr. Guthrie were members of Second Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her cousin, Charlotte Burruss (Randy Felts) and her children, Tami (Trevor) Erion and Scott Burruss and their families; and extended family, John M. "Chuck" Gardner and children, Price (Sara) Gardner and Lisa (Chris) Ring and their families; and all who loved and cared for her in the Good Shepherd community.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Cove Garden Fund, #3 Shepherds Cove, Little Rock, AR 72205 or Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, AR 72210. A private graveside service will be held. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
