Mike had six sisters, who he cared for deeply and was lovingly referred to as “Son” by those who knew him as a child. In his younger days, he was known as a risk taker with an adventurous and mischievous spirit. He graduated from Texarkana College with a degree in aviation. Following college, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam as a military policeman.
After his service, he ran a health club, which he regularly referenced, before becoming a financial advisor for over 30 years. He loved “boot scootin” with Jann in their early years, road biking with Joe, coaching and attending countless sporting events for his children and grandchildren.
He began attending Fellowship Bible Church in the early 80s, where he faithfully served in the youth ministry. For many years, he mentored a seventh-grade boys’ small group. He had a deep passion for sharing the gospel and the lessons he learned throughout his life. He was always ready to preach one of his “sermons.”
A loving and devoted husband and father, he served his family as an unwavering leader, the ultimate encourager, and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Over the last 15 years, he poured himself fully into becoming his son Mark’s caregiver. He consistently created routines that challenged him, while also being his greatest supporter and taking immense pride in the miraculous steps of his journey.
He leaves behind an impactful legacy that touched countless family members, friends, and even strangers he encountered only once.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jann Webb; his children, Meredith Porbeck (Brian), Mitchell Webb (Amanda), and Mark Webb; his grandchildren Payton, Parker, and Patterson Porbeck. Olivia and Graham Webb; and his sisters Margaret Ann Horn, Linda Sue Philbrook, Wanda Jo Monroe, Faye Sawyer, Kaye Miller and Debra June Vasquez.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 11 am, in the Chapel at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Rd in Little Rock. Visitation with the family will take place starting at 10 am prior to the service.
Donations can be made to Fellowship Bible Church of Little Rock to honor of Mike’s legacy and lifelong commitment to faith and family.
