Oretha Thomas Toland, of Little Rock, passed from this life into her heavenly home on Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was born July 24, 1925 in Little Rock, to Stuart and Ollie Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, C. E. “Doc” Toland, her parents, two sisters and one niece. Oretha was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Little Rock for more than sixty years. She taught several Sunday school classes, including junior girls, young couples and adult ladies. She was a talented artist, musician, seamstress and decorator. She will be greatly missed by her four nieces and a host of friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19, 2014 be 12:30 p.m. followed by a service to celebrate her life at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Central Baptist College in Conway, Lifeword Media Ministries, or Baptist Missionary Association of America, also in Conway. Niece, Jo Ann Ratliff would like to thanks the staff of St. Andrews Place for seven years of compassionate care.
