Thomas “Tom” Haskell Davidson, passed away peacefully at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 31, 2025. Born on June 2, 1945, in Lake Village, Arkansas, to John William (J.W.) and Ruby Davidson, Tom was the second of five children.
From farming cotton fields in Arkansas to hunting the mountain peaks of Colorado, to deep sea fishing off the Florida Keys, and even exploring the vibrant streets of Cuba, Tom’s love for adventure took him far and wide. Along the way, he created countless memories and friendships, and sometimes even the kind of stories that left you wondering if they were tall tales—only to later discover they were true. Nicknamed “The Bear Killer” by those who were lucky enough to share in his escapades, Tom's life was lived without limits.
For nearly 30 years, Tom called Durango, Colorado, home. During that time, he owned and operated Davidson Construction, where his exceptional skills as a carpenter and builder left behind not just homes and buildings, but monuments to his craftsmanship. His talent for construction was matched only by his zest for life outdoors. Whether outfitting hunting camps, playing Polocrosse, or fishing, Tom was the embodiment of grit, talent, and a boundless spirit.
An avid hunter, fisherman, horseman, and musician, Tom’s life was one of passion. His adventures were many, but his greatest joy was his family—his children and grandchildren, who were at the heart of everything he did.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Ruby Davidson; his brothers, Mike and Johnny; and his beloved sons, David and Thomas Jr. Those who loved him find comfort in knowing he was surely greeted with open arms and great fanfare as he joined them in Heaven.
He is survived by his brother, Charles "Skip" Davidson (Tammy), and his sister, Lisa Kay Davidson; his son, Ben Davidson (Kelli); his daughters, Jodi Menebroker (Terry) and Amanda Crangle (Rusty); as well as many grandchildren who carry forward his spirit, his lessons, and his love.
Tom’s legacy is found in the stories told around campfires, the jam sessions he shared with his grandchildren, the horsemanship and hunting skills he taught so willingly, and the timeless lessons on living life with courage and heart. Though his larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed, his adventures and love will be carried on by all who knew him.
Saludos a la buena vida, Padre, Hermano, Amigo
