Wilbur Nady of Little Rock passed away March 4, 2020. He was born August 8, 1930, the son of Frank and Abby Nady of Nady, Arkansas, in Arkansas County. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church for 40 + years.
Predeceased by his parents, a sister, and brother, Virgil; and lifelong friends Bill “Doctor” Richey, and Clifford Foster. He is survived by Marie Pierce, and his Briarwood Nursing Home family. The administrators, particularly Joan (who spoiled him rotten) and all the staff were his family in his final home.
Wilbur went into foster care in the 1930’s. He grew up with his brother, Virgil and “Doctor” at Arkansas Children’s Home (now AR Children’s Hospital) and Benton Services Center.
In 1965, he moved to Little Rock with Mrs. Pauline Johnson, her husband, Virgil Nady, Bill Richey, Clifford Foster, and 2 other friends. They were family. They enjoyed traveling, working and living in a home. Wilbur worked at the Arkansas State Hospital for 31 years in the greenhouse and grounds keeper. He loved his work and growing things, especially flowers. He would proudly display his plaque as Employee of the Month.
In 1985 after the Mrs. Johnson passed away, he and his friends moved to their house in Hillcrest. After retirement Wilbur attended Care Links Adult Day Care for many years even after moving to Briarwood Nursing and Rehab. He continued to travel. His favorite was Branson, he loved the music and girls. But Wilbur loved so much: children and babies, Christmas lights, Elvis, teasing his friends, a good old time SINGIN’, dancing, singing, his old westerns, jig saw puzzles, going to work, fishing, hugs, and of course his dancing and singing toys.
A Special Thank You to Kindred Hospice for the loving care, kindness and love given to Wilbur.
We know he was met in Heaven by his “family” and friends, who heard his laughter when he arrived in the Most Beautiful Garden. He is with his “boys” again and forever.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 9, 2020 at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab 516 S. Rodney Parham at 2:30 PM. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery Tuesday March 10, 10:00 AM. To honor Wilbur: give a friend a flower, plant a flower, or send a memorial to Briarwood Activity Fund 516. S.
