

Wilfred Mazurek, a beloved husband, father, and teacher, passed away on March 3, 2023, at the age of 96. Wilfred was born on February 5, 1927 in Bandera, Texas; the son of Henry Marshal and Mary Frances (Pyka) Mazurek. He graduated from Bandera High School in 1945 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. After World War II ended, he served as a Merchant Marine until 1957. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1959, and a Master of Science in Education degree in 1972.
Wilfred dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching in Arkansas public schools in Perry and Pulaski County. He was well known for his sense of humor and commitment to his students' success.
Wilfred married Winnie Frances McClendon on June 7, 1950 and together they raised 6 children. He also raised livestock, enjoyed traveling, liked woodworking, and became an avid bee keeper. He was a member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church of Little Rock.
Wilfred was preceded in death by 2 sons Stephen and Paul, his granddaughter Amber, his parents, and his siblings Agatha, Stanley, Anna May, Helen, Fabian, Elizabeth and Marie.
He is survived by Winnie, his wife of 72+ years; 6 children, Wilfred L. Jr. (and wife Lisa), Joseph M. (and wife Teresa), Gerald H., Melinda K. Mazurek-Brown (and husband Andrew), Mary Jane May (and husband Jonathon), and Bernard S.; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock; with a rosary service beginning at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, followed by inurnment at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and the countless students whose lives he touched.
