He received his B.A. in economics from the University of Rochester, studied industrial administration at Carnegie Mellon, and earned an MBA in corporate finance from the NYU Stern School of Business.
He found his calling in the arbitrage department at Lehman Brothers and then went to Loeb Partners Corporation, where he ran the arbitrage department for 21 years until he retired. Arthur loved beagles and had six as pets during his marriage; he adored all of them and had a special attachment to Baron and Barney.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; his children, Alex (Sari) and Kate (Zach); and his grandchildren Chloe, Daniel, and Hugo.
Contributions in Arthur's memory may be made to Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
