

Bernard Reiter of Verona, NJ died with his loved ones by his side on March 22, 2016. More recently Bernie, who was 88 years of age, had been living in the Solana of Roseland Assisted Living with his dear wife of 63 years, Thelma (née Kline).
Bernie, as he was known to all that loved him, is also survived by his daughters, Sharon Reiter Lindberg and Marcy Huey, their husbands Jeffrey and Mark, as well as his sisters, Freda Dretel and Annette Friend. He was the devoted Grandfather to Eric, Jason, Melissa and Arielle. Jason and his wife are also expecting his great-grandchild very shortly. Bernie’s extended family of loved-ones includes Eric’s wife Doni Zasloff, children Millie and Xander, Jason’s wife Rebecca, and Melissa’s boyfriend, Al.
The Funeral was held at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman in Livingston, NJ on March 24, 2016 and was officiated by Rabbi Silverstein of Temple Agudath Israel of Caldwell and Cantor Rebecca Moses of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel of South Orange.
Bernie Reiter was born in Hoboken, NJ on November 16, 1927 and grew up in West Orange, where he graduated from West Orange High School. After graduation, he studied violin and piano at Julliard Conservatory of Music in NYC for over 3 years and then moved on to Upsala College where he majored in Accounting. Bernard also served in the US Army towards the end of World War II. At the pinnacle of his professional life, he was the Vice President of Finance for Equitable Bag Co. of Long Island City, NY; where he worked for over 30 years.
Bernie loved reading, economics, history and business – but most of all, he loved Thelma & his family… We all loved him tremendously.
Bernie / Poppa will be missed and his memory cherished forever.
