Dr. Wurzel’s family My name is Peter Lazzarotti and did not know that Dr. had passed away. I was a patient of him for many years first at 81 Northfield Avenue then at 405 Northfield. His girl in the office at 81 Northfield was Carol. I could remember years back his sister had passed away. I gave him a sympathy card  and he said Pete you were the only one to give me a card. Another story there was a Johnny Maestro concert in Brookside Park in Bloomfield. I went and did not know he was there. I believe he saw me getting a drink and he said Pete sit upfront with me. You wouldn’t think he was a doctor. When I saw that he had passed away on December 19, 2022 I was upset. I thought of him as a really wonderful person not as a doctor but kind and nice. I want your family to accept my sincere condolences for Dr. Wurzel. He was truly one of the nicest person I ever met in my life.

I grew up with Bernie. We used to call him Sammy.  We met at Hawthorne Ave. School, and continued to be close friends through school. 
Years later I  became a patient of Dr. Wurzel. He was always there to help me.
I am very grateful for the excellent care he gave me.
Sammy will be missed by me, and all his friends that hung out on Renner Ave.

Dear Judy and family We are saddened to learn of Bernie, passing. He was not only our trusted physician for many years but willalso  a colleague .             A part of my heart broke when Miss Judi called me and let me know of Dr. Wurzel’s passing. I thought to myself I lost my mentor, friend, & family. We lost one of the greatest People that I had ever met, a hero. In 2002 Dr Wurzel took me under his wing as his assistant. Dr. Wurzel taught me things in medicine that I will never forget compassion, listening, and most of all opening your heart.  Over the years Dr. Wurzel & Miss Judi taught me how to be my best self. Dr. Wurzel & Miss Judi would say to me I was the Son they never had, I would say to them that I was honored for them to say that. I will carry Dr. Wurzel in my heart for the rest of my life. I knew him as "Uncle Bernie" through my close friendship with the Panters. Over 40 years, we shared family holidays, milestones, and get-togethers. 

He was a loyal brother to Shirley, who often told us her memories and sometimes silly stories about growing up as close siblings. He was a devoted and supportive uncle and brother-in-law.
 
My memories of Bernie are of a stoic but soft-hearted gentleman who always had a joke. You felt his genuine care and attention when he asked how you were. His love, dedication, and kindness were a constant presence in the family and will be missed.

Dear Judi and family ,  Deepest condolences to the passing of our all beloved Dr Wurzel. He has been such a great physician, mentor, support and friend.  Forever Grateful.  He is such a miracle with light shines one.  Pray for GOD's comfort and peace to saturate you and family during this very difficult time.   With deepest empathy, sharing pain of the loss.

Remembering Dr Bernie fondly. So many times he helped my son, Roland, as his patient. While going through his treatments for his illness, Bernie would always ask me about my children…a kind, selfless human being. He will be greatly missed!

We're so thankful that Bernie gifted all of us with thirty years of love, laughter, happiness and memories. We cannot begin to summarize everything that he meant to us in just this small space. We are so grateful we were able to see him in person one last time and bring one of his favorite meals...eggrolls!!!

I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Wurzel’s passing. We started working at St. Mary’s hospital in Orange about the same time. He was a wonderful doctor and a wonderful man.  Condolences to your family. He will be greatly missed.
